A Journey Through the Legal System
The day began with students split between two historic and inspiring venues.
At The Mayor’s and City of London Court, students were welcomed by His Honour Judge Dight CBE and Judge David Saunders, who shared their personal journeys to the bench. The judges answered questions with openness and warmth, offering rare insight into the realities of life on the bench.
Students even had the chance to don traditional full-bottomed wigs and robes, stepping into the courtroom for a mock hearing—an immersive, hands-on experience that brought courtroom proceedings vividly to life.
Meanwhile, back at Drapers’ Hall, the rest of the students met with legal professionals from a wide range of fields—including criminal, corporate, human rights, and family law. These intimate discussions offered real-world advice, career guidance, and plenty of inspiration.
As groups rotated between both locations, every student had the chance to experience both the courtroom and the company of professionals, gaining a comprehensive view of the legal landscape.
Students left inspired, empowered, and curious—many now seriously considering careers in law for the first time.
This event exemplifies the Drapers’ Company’s mission to broaden access, raise aspirations, and support young people’s ambitions. We are proud to open doors and create opportunities where they matter most.
